Mother Ocean! in your lap We floated with dream – but Why did you become the god of death and Take our lives?
what is the myth behind you taking lives of our mothers, babies who can’t speak, grand mothers and grand fathers who lived for us, uncles and aunties and younger and older brothers?
when we were energetically beginning our morning you destroyed us unexpectedly. Mother Ocean, who guarded the poor’s life, Why did you kick us hard this time?
where is the house we built? where is the temple we worshipped? where are the people who were surrounding us?
after everything you did why are you sleeping now?
When we were living Like the wood destroyed by the termites, Mother Nature! Why have you showed us your evil side And traumatized us?
We thought we were the only ones without relatives but now you made everyone like us too. No matter how much devastation is put on us Without a frown we will rise again

From then to now our people are dying; Losing children, mothers and fathers People are still living, Arise a question, when is this peace-thirst Going to stop? Tell!
The people who lost their fathers, left their mothers in a market place when the shell fall over The people who became corpse in seconds - their Legs and hands spread in different sides Like herds they had died
The people who promised ‘we will come’ In mouth full of words, became corpses down the corners Broken in tears there are people who weaken in a second- Seeing that number had been increasing from then to now

In a time to go to school, in those childhood days In that time where children supposedly play with sorrow less days Those days where we ate tapioca and been happy became The time where beast-mouth monsters residing with us
Clouds unite and thunder with lightning occurs A breeze’s wave will run over our homes Madness will be gone and the war will be ended When is that real peace is going to blossom?
When are we going to live?

Tsunami waves Why did you hit us?
In the name of tsunami Why did you destroy half of the earth?
Memories shattered Like strucked coins
Have you spread The sorrows you brought?
Didn’t you feel our sadness that time? Don’t you feel the tragedy now?
Tsunami wave Why did you kill our neighbours?
With huge waves Why did you destroy the village?
Before they wake Why did you take their lives?
What sin has a small kid committed?
Without a trace Families destroyed
Ghost-like waves Made us corpses
Can’t overcome – In heart breaking sorrow Can’t forget – still Fresh memories
(Written in memories of Nishanthan’s death)
